Joke Of The Day

Why did the lobster blush at Cape Cod?

Because it saw the clam digging up old shells!

Menopause often ushers in significant changes to women’s cardiovascular health during their late 40s and early 50s.

Beyond hormonal shifts, heightened abdominal fat, inflammation, and stiffening arteries can put heart health at increased risk in this phase.

Prioritizing quality sleep, controlling blood pressure, regulating blood glucose, and avoiding smoking are four habits shown to reduce heart disease risk dramatically.

Cape Cod’s relaxed lifestyle makes it easier to enjoy restorative sleep and nurture well-being.

Staying active outdoors—like walking or biking the Cape Cod Rail Trail—helps manage blood pressure while reducing stress.

Fresh local produce at farmers’ markets makes healthy eating more accessible for blood sugar control.

Community events and wellness programs offer vital support for quitting smoking and maintaining heart-healthy habits within this scenic region.

Adopting these practices in Cape Cod can truly empower women on their journey to lifelong cardiovascular health.

Planning a relaxing Cape Cod beach day with your dog takes a bit of research, as many local beaches restrict pets during peak summer months.

Yet, several communities on the Cape offer pet-friendly stretches of sand under specific guidelines, making it possible to enjoy the shoreline with your furry companion.

Provincetown stands out with year-round access for leashed dogs and generous off-leash hours each morning and evening.

Wellfleet, Truro, and Eastham all permit dogs on most beaches, though access may be limited during lifeguard hours or nesting bird season.

In Chatham and Orleans, visit early or late—pets are allowed only during designated hours.

Barnstable’s Sandy Neck Beach welcomes leashed dogs on trails and off-road sections, but not on popular public bathing areas in summer.

Always follow local rules, leash your dog, and check for updated restrictions before heading out for a beach adventure together.

Have you seen them?

A manatee was spotted swimming in a Cape Cod inlet on July 26, almost 10 years after its last sighting in the area.

The large mammal was seen by Stevie Petrucci near Popponesset Bay in Mashpee.

This was a rare sighting as manatees prefer warm waters above 68 degrees.

This is the first time Stevie Petrucci and his father, Stephen, had seen a manatee in the 24 years they had been living on the Cape.

Some Florida manatees travel up the coast during warm months, with a few even reaching Massachusetts.

The last confirmed manatee sighting in Cape Cod was in September 2016.
